National League South | Arbour Park | Saturday 24th January 2026 | Attendance: 784
Tonbridge Angels came from behind to secure a hard-fought 3–2 away win at Slough Town, recording back-to-back league victories for the first time under manager Alan Dunne.
The Angels endured a nightmare start, conceding inside the opening minute when Slough’s leading scorer Wiktor Makowski latched onto a long ball and finished clinically, despite protests that Ethan Sutcliffe had been pushed in the build-up. However, Tonbridge responded well to the early setback and quickly began to assert themselves.
Ricky Korboa almost equalised after five minutes with an audacious lob that beat goalkeeper Adam Desbois, only for Slough player-manager Scott Davies to clear off the line. The pressure eventually told three minutes later when Noah McCann powered home a header from Marcus Sablier’s corner to level the scores.
With the game played in blustery, bitter conditions at Arbour Park, chances continued at both ends. Laurie Shala produced an excellent reflex save following a deflection from a Slough corner, while Desbois endured a nervy half for the hosts. On 33 minutes, Tonbridge took the lead when Frankie Baker beat his man on the right and crossed for Tom Leahy, who calmly picked his spot from 10 yards.
That advantage was short-lived, however, as Slough struck back just three minutes later. Makowski again caused problems down the right, crossing for Kiki Oshilaja to head in off the post and send the sides in level at the break.
The second half was tighter, with fewer clear chances, but Dunne’s substitutions proved decisive. Scott Wagstaff and Bunmi Babajide were introduced early, and Babajide’s pace immediately unsettled the Slough defence. After Makowski missed a gilt-edged chance for the hosts, Tonbridge made them pay 10 minutes from time. Kyle Smith slipped Babajide through and, from a tight angle, he rifled an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net to spark wild celebrations among the travelling support.
The Angels managed the closing stages well, seeing off late pressure and six minutes of added time to secure all three points.
Speaking after the match, Dunne said: “It wasn’t a great start, we got caught cold, but the reaction was really good. Slough are one of the in-form teams, but in the second half the boys really stepped up. This time of year it’s all about results and back-to-back wins - I’m buzzing.”
