Angels Bring In Defender Pele on Loan From Crawley Ahead of Busy November

Tonbridge Angels have brought in central defender Pele Arganese-McDermott on a short-term loan from League Two club Crawley Town. The six-foot-four 21-year-old, raised in Luton to an Italian mother and Irish father, began his career at his hometown club before joining Tottenham Hotspur at 15, where he spent five years in the U18s and U21s. He moved to Crawley Town this summer.
Pele told Angels Media: "I'm an out-and-out centre-half and I think my main strengths are my heading and tackling but I like to think I can also play a bit so I can mix it up either way. I know the manager has high expectations and that is great for me because I really want a demanding environment where I can learn."
Manager Alan Dunne said the move was about freshening up a small squad during a heavy run of fixtures: "We have a lot of games this month and with a small squad I felt we need to strengthen defensively. It's good to freshen things up with some new young energy. He's a willing defender who wants to learn and get more experience of men's football and we're all looking forward to working with him."
The signing comes as Tonbridge travel to newly promoted Farnham Town this afternoon, with Dunne's side unbeaten away from home in the league this season. It's the first fixture of a busy November that also includes an FA Trophy tie away at Whitehawk on 14 November.
