Maidstone United 2-1 Slough Town
National League South | Gallagher Stadium | Saturday, 31st October 2026
Maidstone United: Ken Charles (38'), Ryan Hanson (82')
Slough Town: Reuben Shakpoke (48')
Four days after losing top spot in a 1-3 home defeat to Ebbsfleet United, Maidstone United were back to winning ways at the Gallagher Stadium, Ken Charles's first-half goal and a Ryan Hanson winner eight minutes from time seeing off bottom club Slough Town 2-1.
Riley Court and Leone Gravata combined down the left just before the half-hour, and when Court's ball into the box was only half-cleared, Charles reacted quickest to dig it out from under his own feet and in. Slough hit back three minutes into the second half through a familiar face - former Maidstone striker Reuben Shakpoke, sent clear by Taona Munashe Sundire, beat Lenny Holden with a confident finish to level it. Maidstone pushed for a winner, George Fowler heading against the bar from a corner, before it arrived with eight minutes left: Tom Leahy's cross was met by substitute Stan Leech's diving header, and Hanson stabbed the loose ball in from close range.
The win also brought a debut of sorts: Noah Nzuzi, who joined the Stones on a month's loan from Sutton United earlier in the day, came on as a 67th-minute substitute. Slough Town remain bottom of National League South, without a league win in seven. Source:
