Edenbridge's New Pocket Garden, and a Fresh Push to Get Dog Walkers Scooping

Edenbridge Town Council has quietly ticked off two small jobs this week that are worth knowing about if you ever walk through the High Street or let the dog off the lead in one of the town's open spaces: a new pocket garden where the old police station used to stand, and four new dog waste bag dispensers to back up its "Scoop My Poop" campaign.

A pocket garden where the police station used to be

The council was gifted the land where Edenbridge's old Police Station once stood back in 2025, and has spent the months since turning it into a small public garden on the High Street. The Grounds Team has levelled the ground to make it more accessible, repointed the existing wall, laid fresh grass, added extra seating and a new litter bin, and planted shrubs that will fill out over time. The site's flagpole has been kept in place, too - it'll be in use on 11 November for Remembrance Day (11am, all welcome), ahead of the Remembrance Sunday parade to the War Memorial on 8 November.

Scoop my poop

Four new dispensers have gone in around the town's open spaces - one at Mowshurst/Millennium Wood, one at Stangrove Park, and two at the Recreation Ground - each marked with the council's "Scoop My Poop" signs. The council's point is a practical one: bagged dog waste can go in any public litter bin, not just a dedicated dog bin, and the new dispensers mean there's no excuse for leaving a bag behind if you've forgotten your own.
Both jobs come from the same small team, and both are the kind of thing that's easy to miss unless you happen to walk past - a bit of neglected land turned into somewhere to sit, and a nudge to keep the town's open spaces cleaner for everyone using them.
