Pinocchio's Coffee, on the High Street in Edenbridge, has just launched its signature Truth blend in Nespresso-compatible pods - a small step that's really part of a much bigger story. The building it trades from used to be the same family's pet shop, more than 24 years ago, before it was sold and, years later, bought back for an entirely different kind of business.
A second chapter, in the same building
The family's own account of it, published on their site, is a proper local-roots story: "At just 12 years old, Morteza would sit at the back doing his maths homework while his parents cared for customers and their pets." The pet shop was eventually sold and, in the family's words, "life moved on" - until they decided, as they put it, that "some stories deserve a second chapter." That second chapter is Pinocchio's Coffee, now run with what the family describes as "Farah's wisdom, Ali's vision and Morteza's belief in second chances."
Italian roots, Edenbridge home
The coffee itself is roasted by family roasters in Caserta, near Naples - the business names the area's connection to the ancient amphitheatre of Capua and the story of Spartacus as part of its own sense of heritage. Its two blends are Truth, described as chocolate-noted and smooth, and Believe, a 100% Arabica blend; Truth is the one now available in Nespresso-compatible pods alongside the shop's existing whole bean and ground coffee.
What's actually on the menu
Beyond the coffee, Pinocchio's Neapolitan Coffee House runs a proper breakfast, brunch and lunch menu. Breakfast/brunch runs from Avo Benne and Scrambled Benne to Parmigiano Funghi, pancakes and the "Pinocchio's Secret" - with the avo options only available Thursday to Sunday until midday. Lunch is shorter: Brioche Crunch, Caprese and Tucci Toasti. Vegan and gluten-free versions are available on request. The shop also runs a free "Beanius Bar" session, where customers can book in to learn barista-style espresso and milk-frothing technique on the in-store De'Longhi machine.
Leaning into Edenbridge's own history
The shop's branding makes a point of tying itself to the town rather than just borrowing an Italian theme - its website features a trio of historical figures with Edenbridge-area connections: Anne Boleyn (linked to nearby Hever Castle), motor racing and motorcycling champion John Surtees, and Winston Churchill, whose home at Chartwell is a few miles away. It's also a member of Produced in Kent and lists a run of local community partners on its site.
