A small speciality coffee shop on the northern stretch of Shipbourne Road has quickly built a loyal following since opening last summer - enough to earn a New Business shortlisting at the Tonbridge Business Awards 2026, and to start planning a second branch in London.
What Aazhii means
Aazhii (ஆழி), pronounced "ah-zhi", means "ocean" in Tamil - a nod to the owners' roots and the idea, as the shop puts it, that "like the sea, great coffee holds layers: origin, craft, and the quiet moment between pour and first sip." The shop at 88A Shipbourne Road describes itself as "specialty coffee, Tamil soul, Tonbridge made" - serving espresso-based drinks alongside chai, matcha and Spanish lattes, plus pastries and toasties, in a small space done out in warm wood and green walls.
A fast-growing reputation
Reviews have been consistently strong since opening - a 4.9 rating on Google and Tripadvisor alike - with regulars praising the coffee, the sourdough toasties and the care the owners put into the place. It's enough of a following that Aazhii has already announced a second site, on Old Kent Road in South London, due to open in the coming months.
