65mm Coffee: From a Three-Month Pop-Up to a Tonbridge River Walk Favourite

Tucked into the ground floor of Gilbert House on Tonbridge's River Walk, directly across the water from Tonbridge Castle, 65mm Coffee has built a loyal following as one of the town's go-to specialty coffee spots - rated 4.7 out of 5 from 347 Google reviews and holding a top food hygiene rating.

65mm Coffee started out in 2017 as a three-month pop-up at Tonbridge's Old Fire Station, before moving to its current spot on the River Walk when the Fire Station brought its catering in-house. Today it operates as a specialty coffee shop that also offers barista training and consultancy, rotating a house espresso alongside a changing guest coffee.

Alongside the coffee menu - espresso, flat white, filter and the rest, with oat and almond milk options - there's a short line-up of pastries and cakes, and an eat-in food menu that the cafe says is currently being refreshed. It also hosts occasional evening events, including supper clubs with guest chef Ben Sulston, serving pre-dinner drinks from 7pm with food from 7:30pm. There's outdoor seating on the River Walk itself, making it one of the few spots in Tonbridge where you can get a coffee with a direct view of the castle.

The cafe holds a food hygiene rating of 5 ("Very Good"), last checked on 27 May 2026. It's rated 4.7 out of 5 from 347 Google reviews and 4.8 from 39 reviews on Facebook; on Tripadvisor it sits at 4.4 from 62 reviews, ranked the 4th-best coffee and tea spot in Tonbridge. A June 2026 visitor called it "a breakfast to savour," praising "surprising and individual variations on the classic" full English, and a March 2025 reviewer recommended it as one of the few dog-friendly spots in town. It's popular enough that peak times can mean a short wait for a table - one long-time regular noted it's "often very busy" - but reviewers consistently say the service and quality hold up regardless, with that same March 2025 visitor calling their full English "outstanding" even with the queue. Regulars also single out the river and castle view from the outdoor seating as a particular draw.
