Four Unbeaten, Two Top of the Table: West Kent Rugby Enters a Big Weekend

West Kent has more competitive rugby than you might think - six senior clubs, spread across four different league tiers - and from this weekend we'll be covering it regularly alongside our existing football coverage. It's a good week to start: four of the six clubs are unbeaten, two of them sitting top of their table.

Six clubs, four tiers

Tonbridge Juddians sit well above the rest in National League 1, English rugby's third tier. Sevenoaks RFC and Tunbridge Wells RFC are both in Regional 1 South Central (tier 5) this season, after both clubs were relegated out of National League 2 East at the end of 2025/26 - which means they're now in the same division, with a derby already on the calendar for 21 November. Maidstone RFC play Counties 2 Kent, while Weavering Warriors and East Peckham & Paddock Wood - based in Maidstone borough and Tonbridge & Malling respectively - play Counties 5 Kent.

Tonbridge Juddians' foursome weekend - and they're unbeaten

Tonbridge Juddians have three senior men's sides in league action on Saturday, with the 1st XV away at Bishop's Stortford (kick-off 3pm) in National League 1, plus the women's team playing on Sunday. The 1st XV go into it unbeaten - five wins out of five - and sit 2nd in the table, level on points with leaders Plymouth Albion. It's the standout fixture of the West Kent weekend by some distance, given the level, and a proper test: Bishop's Stortford sit 5th with three wins and two defeats from the same number of games.

Maidstone top and on the road, while the county pair sit 1st and 2nd

Maidstone RFC are away at Westcombe Park II, currently top of Counties 2 Kent on points difference from a chasing pack of three clubs level on points. Weavering Warriors and East Peckham & Paddock Wood both have a bye this round in Counties 5 Kent - but it's worth the wait either way, because they currently sit 1st and 2nd in the table, level on points and both unbeaten. Their next fixtures are both on 17 October: Weavering Warriors away at Edenbridge, East Peckham & Paddock Wood away at Westcombe Park III.

Results to follow

We'll be reporting on how all six clubs get on as results come in over the weekend, rather than waiting for a fixed round-up day - starting with Tonbridge Juddians, given the level they're playing at.
