Tonbridge Angels 0-1 Torquay United
Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round | Yeomans Community Stadium, Longmead | Saturday, 3rd October 2026 | Attendance: 1,204
Torquay United: Matt Worthington (55')
Angels are out of the FA Cup after a 0-1 home defeat to National League side Torquay United - a result that flattered the visitors after Angels dominated the first half without finding a finish. Manager Alan Dunne made two changes from the side beaten by Ebbsfleet United in the league, with Hayden Bullas and Bunmi Babajide coming in for Jaden Brown and Frankie Baker. Angels created a string of first-half chances: Lamar Reynolds struck the bar after being put through by Ricky Korboa on 11 minutes, Korboa himself was denied by a fingertip save, and Ethan Sutcliffe headed over from a Sam Corne corner. Torquay goalkeeper Toby Savin - who Angels say "seems to save his best performances" for them - was the main reason the sides went in level at half-time despite a one-sided first 45 minutes.
The pattern Angels fans have seen before repeated itself: half-time punctured their momentum, and on 55 minutes Torquay broke through Callum Morton on the left, who set up Worthington to finish past Nathan Harness. It was the third time in eight home meetings between the clubs that Torquay have beaten Angels by a single goal. Dunne made four substitutions chasing an equaliser, but Savin held firm to the end. Dunne said afterwards: "I thought that was one of our best performances of the season... but we seemed to get a nosebleed in front of goal. If you look at the stats, it's difficult to know how we've lost." Source:
