Tonbridge Angels: Frankie Baker (83')
A scrappy, bookings-heavy first half at York Road - Maidenhead's Finley Welch rattled the crossbar the closest either side came to scoring - gave way to a dramatic finish. Frankie Baker, on as a substitute just after the hour for Lamar Reynolds, won the ball from a long punt forward on 83 minutes and shaped to shoot; his effort looked to be drifting wide before it cannoned in off one post, across the goal, off the other, and over the line to send the travelling Angels fans wild.
It very nearly wasn't enough. Deep into stoppage time, Maidenhead substitute Josh Johnson found himself clean through with only goalkeeper Nathan Harness to beat, but Harness got down low to turn the shot behind for a corner - a save every bit as important as Baker's goal. The result extends Tonbridge's unbeaten run in away league games to six, four of them wins, and comes with the manager's own discipline record intact only in the loosest sense: Alan Dunne was booked himself for protesting a free-kick award in the first half. Assistant manager Larry McAvoy told the club's own media afterwards: "We've been unlucky in recent weeks and we were due a win like this. We weren't fluent in terms of our attacking play but we dug in and earned it." Source:
