Chelmsford City 3-3 Tonbridge Angels
National League South | Melbourne Stadium | Saturday, 24th October 2026 | Attendance: 1,456
Chelmsford City: Lyle Taylor (24') Harry Barbrook (49') Leo Sery (84')
Tonbridge Angels: Alfie Pavey (75') Jephte Tanga (77') Jordon Thompson (87')
For an hour and a quarter, this looked like a routine afternoon for Chelmsford and a chastening one for Tonbridge Angels, missing three regulars rested after Tuesday's Kent Senior Cup win over Charlton. Lyle Taylor rounded goalkeeper Nathan Harness to open the scoring after Hayden Bullas under-hit a pass back, and Harry Barbrook doubled the lead early in the second half as the Angels struggled to get a foothold in horrendous, wind-lashed conditions.
Manager Alan Dunne turned to his bench, and with fifteen minutes left the changes paid off. Jephte Tanga's cross found substitute Alfie Pavey, on for only a few minutes, who powered a header past Alfie Marriott to halve the deficit. Two minutes later Tanga was scoring himself, running onto a diagonal ball from Bailey Akehurst and finishing coolly to make it 2-2 and turn the Angels' end into bedlam.
Chelmsford responded through Leo Sery, tapping in from close range to restore their lead with six minutes left, and looked to have done enough. But with three minutes left, substitute Jordon Thompson lost his marker at the near post from a Harry Gardner corner and finished emphatically to complete the fightback and snatch a point Tonbridge barely looked like getting an hour earlier.
