Maidstone's planning committee has voted 12-1 to refuse a scheme replacing a mobile home with a permanent self-build house at Wierton Hill Farm, Boughton Monchelsea, going against officers' recommendation and ruling the development would suburbanise the countryside.

Five housing schemes - roughly 400 homes between them - go before Tonbridge and Malling's planning committee on 16 September, and officers are recommending approval on every one, with the council's depleted housing land supply looming over the meeting.

An outline scheme for up to 300 houses and a community tennis facility on farmland south of Eccles, off Bull Lane near Aylesford, goes before Tonbridge and Malling councillors on 16 September with officers recommending they approve it.

Tonbridge and Malling's planning committee has again rejected Croudace Homes' plan for 66 houses on a Green Belt field at Wateringbury, going against officers' advice and citing harm to the Medway Valley landscape and to air quality at the village crossroads. Kent Wildlife Trust is urging residents to respond before the consultation closes on 17 September.
