Visit Kent has just launched The Kentish Wine Way, bringing together 30 of the county's vineyards under one tourism brand - and three of them are on our own doorstep, in Westerham, Staplehurst and Wateringbury.

Spice Village, the Indian restaurant on The Row in New Ash Green, has been named Best Restaurant of the Year at the Curry Life Awards 2026, the latest in a run of award wins for the BYOB restaurant.

Tucked behind an aviation museum in Shoreham Village, a volunteer-run tea room serves homemade cakes and bacon doorsteps to walkers and cyclists passing through - with a gallery of aviation art on the walls and, on occasion, a volunteer dressed as the Red Baron doing the serving.

Kingdom, a café, wedding venue and outdoor hub set in 13 acres of Penshurst woodland, was built from trees felled in the Great Storm of 1987 - today it's a genuine all-rounder, drawing visitors for its 360-degree views, locally sourced food, forest spa, walking and cycling routes, and the ancient tree at its heart.

Deniz Whole Good Food on Seal High Street is the village's sole café - a small, health-focused spot doing homemade wholesome food with dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan options, and a 100% recommend rate from its regulars on Facebook.

Eat'n'Mess, the gluten-free bakery and café now running from a converted outdoor space called The Pod on a working farm near Dunton Green, has gone from a Kickstarter-funded shop to a weekend queue out the door - and it's not the only business putting the site back to work.

Sevenoaks District Council's Silver Sevenoaks District programme runs from October to December, offering the over-55s a free Silver Celebration afternoon tea, a Christmas party, free leisure centre passes and discounted golf, alongside walking groups and lunch clubs already running across the district.

The Grasshopper on the Green, a fixture on Westerham's village green under the same ownership since 1987, went up for sale with a £1.25 million guide price - and Rightmove's listing now shows it under offer, meaning a buyer's offer has been accepted, though the sale hasn't formally completed yet.
