There's a Second Coffee Stop at Tonbridge Station, and a Lot of Commuters Haven't Noticed Yet

There's a new coffee stop at Tonbridge station that a lot of regular commuters seem to have walked straight past without clocking it. Gourmet Coffee Bar & Kitchen has opened directly on Platform 1/2 - not by the entrance, but on the platform itself, exactly where anyone who's already through the barriers and waiting for a train would actually want it.
It's easy to assume a new kiosk on a station platform is a one-off independent opening, but this one has a bigger story behind it. Gourmet Coffee Bar & Kitchen is a UK-wide railway station coffee specialist with more than 30 locations across England and Wales, and Tonbridge is part of a wider rollout across the network in partnership with Southeastern Railway, which has also brought the chain to Bromley South. The pitch is specialty-grade coffee sourced directly from growers in Brazil, alongside pastries and hot food - a step up from a straightforward brew-and-go kiosk, closer to what you'd expect from a proper café.
There's more coming, too. Gourmet Coffee Bar's own store locator already lists a second Tonbridge site as "coming soon" on Platform 3/4 - meaning that once it opens, Tonbridge will have three separate coffee stops across the station, an unusually dense cluster for a market town rather than a major interchange. It's a small sign of just how much the humble station coffee kiosk has come back into fashion across the rail network in the last few years, and Tonbridge is clearly being treated as a stop worth investing in twice over.
