Kirby Double Sees Rusthall Past Kennington in a Quiet SCEFL Weekend

There was only a light programme of Southern Counties East Football League fixtures on Saturday, with the FA Cup first qualifying round taking several clubs out of league action. Snodland Town were the West Kent side still involved in the cup, winning 3-1 at Isthmian Premier Division Margate - covered separately on this site. Of those who did play league football, Rusthall had the best of the afternoon.

Rusthall 3-1 Kennington

SCEFL Premier Division | The Jockey Farm Stadium | Saturday, 5th September 2026 | Attendance: 209
Rusthall: Jack Kirby (3', 44'), Lekan Osideko (60')
Rusthall were in front inside three minutes through Jack Kirby and, although Tom Scorer levelled for Kennington on 17, Kirby restored the lead just before half-time with his second of the game. Lekan Osideko added a third on the hour to settle it, a comfortable home win over a Kennington side that had started the season among the early front-runners.

Beckenham Town 1-1 Larkfield & New Hythe

SCEFL Premier Division | Eden Park Avenue | Saturday, 5th September 2026 | Attendance: 283
Larkfield & New Hythe: Charlie Wright (29')
Charlie Wright's first-half goal gave Larkfield & New Hythe the lead at Beckenham, and although Ellis Marsh equalised early in the second half, the visitors held on for a point that ends a run of four straight defeats. It lifts them to seventh in the table.

Staplehurst Monarchs 0-0 Stansfeld

SCEFL First Division | Jubilee Sports Field | Saturday, 5th September 2026 | Attendance: 66
In the First Division, Staplehurst Monarchs and Stansfeld played out a goalless draw at the Jubilee Sports Field - a solid response for Staplehurst after a heavy midweek defeat at SC Thamesmead. Elsewhere, Tunbridge Wells and Bearsted both had blank weekends.
Next round of fixtures: Saturday 12th September 2026 - Tunbridge Wells host Snodland Town in the Premier Division (3pm), with Rusthall, Larkfield & New Hythe, Bearsted and Staplehurst Monarchs all in FA Vase second qualifying round action.
