Tunbridge Wells RFC Suffer First Loss of the Season, Beaten 32-28 at Bracknell

Bracknell 32-28 Tunbridge Wells

Regional 1 South Central | Away | Saturday, 17th October 2026
Tunbridge Wells' unbeaten start to the season came to an end at Bracknell, going down 32-28 in a high-scoring match that nonetheless produced two try bonus points for the visitors. George Montgomery scored and converted his own try inside five minutes, and after Bracknell had two players sin-binned in quick succession, the hosts were awarded a penalty try to put Tunbridge Wells 14 points clear early on. Bracknell hit back through four tries either side of half-time - Kayden Artman, Bradley Walters, Thomas Johnson and Sam Rennell all crossing, with Oliver Radford landing three of the conversions and two late penalties - to edge back in front. Benjamin Whale and Ned Taggart both crossed for Tunbridge Wells in the closing quarter, Montgomery converting both, but Bracknell's accumulated points from the middle of the match proved enough to win it. Neither club has published a written report; this detail comes from the RFU's own match centre. Source: RFU match centre
It's the first defeat of the season for Tunbridge Wells, who drop to second in Regional 1 South Central on 17 points from four games, three behind fellow West Kent side Sevenoaks, who beat Farnham 28-7 on the same afternoon to stay unbeaten. The two clubs, relegated from National League 2 East together last season, still meet each other at Knole Paddock on 21 November.
