Hemel Hempstead Town 1-1 Tonbridge Angels
Enterprise National League South | Focus Community Arena | Saturday 12th September 2026
Hemel Hempstead Town: Harrison Panayiotou
Tonbridge Angels: Ricky Korboa (21')
Tonbridge Angels maintained their unbeaten away record this season but had to settle for a point at a ground that has proved barren for them in recent years, drawing 1-1 at Hemel Hempstead Town in a match that never really got out of second gear. Manager Alan Dunne watched on having been serving a one-match touchline suspension, with his side unchanged from the narrow midweek defeat to Maidstone United bar a bench change in goal.
The hosts had the game's first real talking point when they were awarded a penalty after Jordon Thompson was judged to have shoved Marshall Francis in the back, but Remaye Campbell side-footed the spot-kick wide. Angels made them pay soon after: on 21 minutes, Ricky Korboa cut in from the left flank and beat goalkeeper Michael Johnson with a low, well-struck finish to put the visitors ahead.
August's Player of the Month, Jephte Tanga, spurned a good chance to make it two before half-time, and the second half continued in much the same subdued fashion until Hemel's substitutions turned the game. Debutant striker Harrison Panayiotou got on the end of a ball played in from the right to snatch an equaliser, and despite late chances for both sides - Tanga forcing a save, then a Frankie Baker cross narrowly cleared before it could reach him - neither side found a winner. Assistant manager Larry McAvoy was frank afterwards: "I think it's two points dropped... it all just felt a bit flat and our quality wasn't what it's been," though he added the point from a traditionally difficult ground was "something we can be pleased with".
