Swanley's Top-Rated Restaurant Seeks New Licence After Operating Company Dissolves

Thai Emperor, the Swanley restaurant rated number one in the town on Tripadvisor, has applied for a new premises licence covering alcohol sales and late-night food at 7 High Street - filed after the company that most recently ran the business was dissolved this summer.

What's being applied for

The application, received by Sevenoaks District Council on 21 September and validated the following day, seeks permission to sell alcohol for consumption on and off the premises from noon to midnight every day, and to provide late-night refreshment indoors from 11pm to midnight, with an extension to 1am on New Year's Eve. The consultation period runs until 20 October, during which anyone can submit a representation to the council citing reference 26/04093/LAPRE.

A change behind the scenes

Companies House records show the company most recently trading as Thai Emperor at the address, Thai Emperor Swanley Ltd, was incorporated in February 2025 with Md Nijam Ahmed as its director, and was dissolved on 14 July 2026. The new licence application has been filed not by that company but by an individual, Md Saidul Amin, who is also the director of Curry House Swanley Ltd, an active company registered at 9 High Street - next door.
None of this appears to have interrupted trade: reviews on Tripadvisor, where the restaurant holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating from 260 reviews and ranks first among Swanley's restaurants, continue into this year, with recent visitors praising the massaman curry and the service.
