Swanley Backs KentRelief's Latest 11.5-Tonne Aid Run to Its Twin City in Ukraine

Swanley Town Council has spent recent weeks collecting medical supplies, food, hygiene products and shoebox donations from residents, councillors and staff, ahead of humanitarian charity KentRelief's latest aid truck to Ukraine, which left on 19 September carrying more than 11,500kg of supplies.

A stop for Fastiv, Swanley's twin city

This delivery's route includes a distribution to Fastiv, after Swanley Town Council asked KentRelief to add its long-standing twin city to the charity's distribution network. Fastiv, in Ukraine's Kyiv Oblast, has been twinned with Swanley for years; the council says the arrangement means local donations can now reach the town directly rather than the wider general appeal. KentRelief has sent more than 150 tonnes of aid to Ukraine since February 2022, including food, medical supplies and firefighting equipment.
"I want to thank the immense generosity of Swanley residents for their donations to humanitarian aid to Swanley's twinned city of Fastiv," said the Mayor of Swanley, Cllr Michael Horwood. "Whilst the illegal invasion of Ukraine sadly continues, the significant amount of aid donated by local residents reflects our never-ending support and solidarity with Fastiv residents." Anyone wanting to support future deliveries can donate to KentRelief directly or via the Charities Aid Foundation. Source: Swanley Town Council
