Panattoni Park Aylesford has been named Best Overall Scheme - Logistics Park at the Industrial Agents Society (IAS) Awards, recognising the transformation of a former vacant brownfield site into a fully occupied, world-class logistics and distribution hub in less than five years.
What's there now
Developed by Panattoni, which describes itself as the world's largest privately owned industrial developer, the 90-acre site is now home to major occupiers including Amazon, DHL, Evri, Tesco and Fowler Welch. The development supports an estimated 4,000 jobs and contributes around £180 million a year to the local economy, following an investment of approximately £250 million to deliver the scheme. Alongside the logistics units, Panattoni says it worked with local stakeholders on improved transport links, walking and cycling connections, and environmental initiatives in partnership with organisations including Kent Wildlife Trust.
What Panattoni said
Tony Watkins, Head of Development for London & South East at Panattoni, said: "From the outset, our vision was to create a development that would bring lasting benefits to Kent, provide world-class facilities for our occupiers and create opportunities for local people and businesses. Today, Aylesford is home to thousands of jobs, supports major employers, contributes millions of pounds to the local economy and is helping set new standards for sustainable logistics development."
What's next for Panattoni in Kent
The recognition comes as Panattoni progresses its next major investment in the county, having recently submitted proposals to redevelop the former Marley Works site in Lenham with 1.4 million sq ft of logistics, distribution and manufacturing space.
