Residents Invited to Help Shape New Pump Track Plans in Maidstone

People in Maidstone are being invited to share their views on plans for a new outdoor pump track at the former Willington Street Park and Ride site.
The proposed track would create a dedicated space for bikes and other wheeled sports, giving local residents a new place to ride, practise and stay active outdoors. Alongside the track itself, part of the site could also be transformed into a rewilded green space designed to support wildlife and improve biodiversity in the area.
The project is part of wider efforts by Maidstone Borough Council to expand outdoor leisure facilities across the borough and make them more accessible for different age groups and abilities.
Residents are now being encouraged to take part in a public consultation to help shape the plans before they move further forward. The survey allows people to support the proposal, raise concerns or suggest additional ideas that could improve the space for the community.
The Willington Street site was selected as the first pilot location after councillors approved plans for two pump tracks in Maidstone last year. If the first project proves successful, work on a second location elsewhere in the borough is expected to follow.
Council leaders say the aim is to create a space that supports both physical wellbeing and the local environment. As well as encouraging outdoor activity, the inclusion of natural habitats and rewilded areas could help turn part of the former park and ride site into a greener community space.
Any final scheme would still need to go through the planning process before construction could begin.
The consultation remains open until 14 June 2026, with residents able to submit feedback online through the council’s consultation platform.
