Kennington Thrash Larkfield & New Hythe to End Their Winning Start

Larkfield & New Hythe's flying start to the SCEFL Premier Division season hit a wall on Saturday, as a 1-0 lead inside eight minutes turned into a 1-4 home defeat to Kennington at Eden Estates Stadium. Tunde Aderonmu's early opener had the hosts dreaming of a third straight win to open the campaign, but Kennington responded with four goals of their own to leave with all three points.

Aderonmu gave Larkfield the perfect start, finishing early to put the hosts 1-0 up inside eight minutes. Kennington levelled through Ryan Philpott on 14, and Charlie Owen turned the game on its head five minutes before the break to send the visitors in front at half-time. Kai Garrett extended the lead within a minute of the restart, and although Larkfield pushed to get back into it, Jake Abrahams' goal on 74 minutes put the result beyond doubt.

It's a first defeat of the season for Larkfield, who had opened with a 3-1 win over Tunbridge Wells the previous weekend, and puts a dent in what had been a perfect start to the Premier Division campaign. It leaves them to regroup before hosting SE Dons at Eden Estates Stadium the following weekend.
