Yarrow Restaurant and Aluna Wellbeing Club Set to Open at Tunbridge Wells' Paramount Place

Two new venues open to the whole town, not just residents, are landing at Paramount Place this month: Yarrow, a modern British restaurant and bar, and Aluna, a wellbeing club built around a hydrotherapy pool and EGYM equipment. Both sit inside the retirement community taking shape at Tunbridge Wells' main crossroads, opposite the Town Hall on Mount Pleasant Road.

Yarrow - a café, restaurant and bar with outdoor courtyard seating - is what Paramount Place's own materials call "the social heart" of the scheme, serving everything from morning coffee to Sunday lunch and tasting menus, built around seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. It's already taking bookings, with a live autumn offer of two courses for £20 or three for £25. Crucially, it isn't reserved for residents: Retirement Villages Group (RVG), which runs Paramount Place, says the restaurant is "open to residents and the public alike."

Paramount Place's Yarrow is RVG's second opening in West Kent this autumn - a sister restaurant opened at The Willowbury in West Malling on 30 September, and both are rolling out as part of RVG's wider "Thrive Living Collection," following a flagship Yarrow at the company's Botanical Place development in West Byfleet, Surrey. RVG's head of food and beverage operations, Chris Burdett, said the aim was "a setting that feels relaxed and easy to walk into," with both West Kent restaurants "open to everyone from day one."

Opening this month alongside Yarrow is Aluna, Paramount Place's wellbeing suite - a hydrotherapy pool, treatment rooms and a fitness studio built around EGYM equipment that adjusts automatically to each user's body. RVG describes it deliberately as "not a gym. A wellbeing club," built for "gentle movement, restoration and connection at your pace." Unlike Yarrow, Aluna isn't fully open to the public: residents get full access, with "a limited number of memberships open to the wider community" on top.

Yarrow and Aluna both sit around Paramount Place's landscaped public courtyard, which RVG says will also host farmers' markets, open-air cinema evenings and seasonal events open to residents, visitors and the wider community, alongside shops at street level still to be confirmed. The wider scheme - a mix of one- and two-bedroom retirement apartments and penthouses - is due to open through 2026.
