Slough Town 2–3 Tonbridge Angels

National League South | Arbour Park | Saturday 24th January 2026 | Attendance: 784
Tonbridge Angels came from behind to secure a hard-fought 3–2 away win at Slough Town, recording back-to-back league victories for the first time under manager Alan Dunne.
The Angels endured a nightmare start, conceding inside the opening minute when Slough’s leading scorer Wiktor Makowski latched onto a long ball and finished clinically, despite protests that Ethan Sutcliffe had been pushed in the build-up. However, Tonbridge responded well to the early setback and quickly began to assert themselves.
Ricky Korboa almost equalised after five minutes with an audacious lob that beat goalkeeper Adam Desbois, only for Slough player-manager Scott Davies to clear off the line. The pressure eventually told three minutes later when Noah McCann powered home a header from Marcus Sablier’s corner to level the scores.
With the game played in blustery, bitter conditions at Arbour Park, chances continued at both ends. Laurie Shala produced an excellent reflex save following a deflection from a Slough corner, while Desbois endured a nervy half for the hosts. On 33 minutes, Tonbridge took the lead when Frankie Baker beat his man on the right and crossed for Tom Leahy, who calmly picked his spot from 10 yards.
That advantage was short-lived, however, as Slough struck back just three minutes later. Makowski again caused problems down the right, crossing for Kiki Oshilaja to head in off the post and send the sides in level at the break.
The second half was tighter, with fewer clear chances, but Dunne’s substitutions proved decisive. Scott Wagstaff and Bunmi Babajide were introduced early, and Babajide’s pace immediately unsettled the Slough defence. After Makowski missed a gilt-edged chance for the hosts, Tonbridge made them pay 10 minutes from time. Kyle Smith slipped Babajide through and, from a tight angle, he rifled an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net to spark wild celebrations among the travelling support.
The Angels managed the closing stages well, seeing off late pressure and six minutes of added time to secure all three points.
Speaking after the match, Dunne said: “It wasn’t a great start, we got caught cold, but the reaction was really good. Slough are one of the in-form teams, but in the second half the boys really stepped up. This time of year it’s all about results and back-to-back wins - I’m buzzing.”

Maidstone United 0–1 Hemel Hempstead Town

National League South | Gallagher Stadium | Saturday 24th January 2026 | Attendance: 2141
For the first time in six National League South matches, Maidstone United tasted defeat, going down 1–0 at home to Hemel Hempstead Town in an evenly contested fixture at Gallagher Stadium.
The Stones started the brighter and looked lively in the opening minutes. Riley Court delivered an early free kick that found Muhammadu Faal, whose rising effort was smartly turned behind by Hemel goalkeeper Michael Johnson. Court followed up with another dangerous set piece that curled just over the bar, giving the home support reason for optimism.
The game remained tight and scrappy as half-time approached, with Maidstone enjoying patches of pressure but unable to convert their build-up play into clear chances. On the brink of the interval, Hemel Hempstead took the lead in spectacular fashion. A free-kick from Jack Lorentzen-Jones found Millar Matthews-Lewis, who executed a fine bicycle kick to send the ball into the net and give the away side a 1–0 advantage at the break.
Maidstone pushed for an equaliser after the restart. Jephte Tanga’s inviting cross saw Faal flick wide, and later a fierce effort from Tanga was well saved by Johnson. Despite sustained pressure and a few half-chances, the host side could not unlock a resilient Hemel defence. A free-kick from close range and another deep cross by David Sesay failed to trouble the scoreline further, and the visitors held on for a narrow but deserved victory.
The defeat ended Maidstone’s recent run of positive league results and leaves them looking to regroup quickly as the season enters a crucial phase.
