Tonbridge Swimming Pool's Indoor Pools Still Shut Over a Week On From Ceiling Safety Scare

If you're planning a dip at Tonbridge Swimming Pool, check before you go: both indoor pools have been closed since 11 September after staff found some of the ceiling tiles above the pool hall were unstable, and they're staying shut until a protective net can be installed underneath.
tmactive, which runs the pool on behalf of Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, said the work was expected to take around two weeks from the closure date - pointing to roughly 25 September - though as of this week the council and tmactive hadn't posted a firm reopening date, so it's worth checking tmactive's site before turning up for an indoor swim.
The outdoor pool isn't affected and is picking up the slack with longer hours while the indoor pools are shut: 6.30am-9pm on weekdays and 7am-8pm at weekends, instead of its usual timetable. The spa and café are also staying open as normal. It's a similar story to the one that made headlines here a fortnight ago, when tmactive confirmed the outdoor pool would again stay open right through autumn and winter - so anyone who fancied trying cold(ish)-water swimming for the first time has more reason than usual to give it a go this week.
tmactive said the safety of customers and staff was its priority and apologised for the inconvenience, adding that further inspections and longer-term options for the ceiling will be considered once the indoor pools are safe to reopen. Source: tmactive
