Tonbridge Angels 3-2 Salisbury
National League South | Yeomans Community Stadium | 11th April 2026 | Attendance: 858
Tonbridge Angels: J. Thompson (13'), T. Leahy (48'), E. Sutcliffe (70')
Salisbury: N. Coppin (65'), N. Odokonyero (76')
From the first whistle, Angels looked sharp and on the front foot. Bunmi Babajide and Tom Leahy both went close early, forcing Will Buse into action as the pressure built.
Despite that dominance, Salisbury almost struck first, rattling the bar with a long-range effort. But Angels kept pushing and got their reward soon after. A dangerous delivery from Bailey Akehurst caused problems all afternoon, and it was his corner that led to the opener, with Jordon Thompson rising at the near post to head home.
The home side thought they had doubled the lead midway through the half when Frankie Baker found the net, but the effort was ruled out, keeping the game finely balanced at the break.
Salisbury showed more intent after half-time, but it was Angels who struck again. Leahy produced the moment of the match, unleashing a powerful effort into the top corner to make it 2–0.
To their credit, the visitors didn’t fold. A well-worked move saw Noah Coppin pull one back after being set up by Nathan Odokonyero, setting up a tense final period.
Angels responded well. Another set-piece caused problems, and this time Ethan Sutcliffe made it count, heading in to restore the two-goal cushion.
Even then, the game had another twist. Odokonyero stayed involved and capitalised on a lapse at the back to bring Salisbury back within one goal, ensuring a nervy finish.
With added time stretching on and Salisbury pushing forward, the pressure was on. But Angels held firm to see it out and claim a deserved win after a strong overall performance.
It wasn’t perfect, especially defensively late on, but the attacking intent and control for large spells made the difference in the end.
