Tonbridge Angels 2-0 Hampton & Richmond Borough
National League South | Yeomans Community Stadium | Tuesday 24th February 2026
Tonbridge Angels: T. Leahy (51') F. Baker (90')
Tonbridge Angels produced a disciplined and energetic performance at The Yeomans Community Stadium, Longmead, securing a deserved 2–0 victory over Hampton & Richmond Borough and making it back-to-back home wins.
Manager Alan Dunne admitted he was “buzzing” afterwards, praising a display built on intensity, organisation and clinical moments in both halves.
Fast Start Brings Reward
With the positive atmosphere from Saturday still lingering, Angels began on the front foot. As early as the third minute, Tom Leahy forced a sharp save from Marcus Dewhurst after being released by Ricky Korboa.
Bunmi Babajide caused constant problems down the flank and the pressure steadily mounted. The breakthrough came on 37 minutes following a free-kick that led to a frantic scramble in the box. Amid the chaos, Leahy reacted quickest to force the ball over the line, claiming his sixth goal of the season.
Hampton’s best chance of the half saw Harry Gardner drag an effort just wide, but it was Angels who looked the more composed and threatening side.
Baker Pounces, Beavers Reduced to Ten
Six minutes into the second half, Frankie Baker doubled the advantage with an excellent piece of anticipation. Reading Dewhurst’s attempt to roll the ball out from the back, Baker intercepted and finished confidently from a tight angle to make it 2–0.
Hampton’s challenge became even tougher on 55 minutes when midfielder Kwaku Frimpong was shown a second yellow card by referee Tolu Sangowawa for a foul on Korboa.
With the numerical advantage, Angels controlled the tempo. Babajide dazzled with clever footwork, Bradley Williams battled tirelessly in midfield, and captain Thompson helped marshal a defence that remained solid throughout.
Substitutes Sean Shields and Scott Wagstaff were introduced on the hour to maintain energy levels, while late changes saw Naz Bakrin and Tobi Omole help see out the closing stages.
The visitors refused to fold and nearly found a late consolation when Eduino Vaz fired narrowly over on 84 minutes, but Matt Rowley — drafted straight into the starting XI after his loan move from Reading was confirmed just an hour before kick-off - marked his return between the sticks with a clean sheet.
Professional and Assured
This was not a chaotic or emotional win. It was measured, controlled and professional - the kind of performance that reflects a side growing in confidence and consistency.
Back-to-back victories at home, another clean sheet, and three more valuable points underline the progress being made under Dunne.
