Anti-Social Behaviour Order at The Vine, Sevenoaks, Set to Be Extended for Another Three Years

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) covering The Vine in Sevenoaks, credited with cutting anti-social behaviour in the area, is set to be extended for a further three years from December.

A consultation backed keeping it

The order was first introduced in December 2023 by Sevenoaks District Council and Sevenoaks Town Council, following complaints from residents about noise, vehicle nuisance and drunken, rowdy behaviour in the area. Since then, the council says there have been no reports of rowdy or nuisance gatherings. With the current order due to expire in December this year, the council consulted residents in July 2026 on whether to renew it; of the 143 people who took part, 75% were in favour of extending it. Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet approved the three-year extension, running from 1 December 2026, at its meeting on 22 September.
PSPOs give police and council officers the power to issue on-the-spot warnings or fixed penalty notices for anti-social behaviour, and can require people causing trouble to leave the area for up to 24 hours. Cllr Lesley Dyball, the council's Cabinet Member for People and Places, said: "It's reassuring that anti-social behaviour at the Vine has markedly reduced since the PSPO was put in place. It has been a great success, and we want to do everything possible to keep this area safe." At the same meeting, councillors also agreed to consult residents in October on extending a separate PSPO on London Road, Halstead, introduced in March 2024 to deter car meets, racing and general vehicle nuisance.
