Teenager arrested following reported robbery in Tunbridge Wells

Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage after a man was reportedly assaulted and robbed in Tunbridge Wells.
The incident happened at around 11.45pm on Saturday, 25 July 2026, as the victim, a man in his 30s, was walking with a friend from Chapel Place towards the High Street.
A group of teenagers who were not known to the pair reportedly joined them as they continued towards Mount Sion.
At the junction with the High Street, one member of the group allegedly asked the victim to follow his business account on social media. When the man took out his mobile phone, he was reportedly attacked by members of the group and the device was stolen.
The suspects, described by police as black males aged between 16 and 20, then left the area.
A 16-year-old boy was later arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Kent Police believes other people were in the area at the time and may have witnessed what happened. Residents are being asked to check private CCTV, while drivers who passed through the area should review any dashcam footage.
