Three stolen caravans worth around £100,000 have been recovered by local officers in West Kingsdown, after a tip-off from a police force more than 150 miles away led them to the wrong address - and then, using local knowledge, the right one.
What happened
On Tuesday 29 September, Kent Police was contacted by Norfolk Police following the theft of a caravan believed to be in the West Kingsdown area. Officers went to a location near School Lane where the vehicle was thought to be, but it wasn't there. Drawing on local knowledge, they checked a nearby area instead and found not only the caravan Norfolk Police were looking for, but two further stolen caravans alongside it. Checks identified the vehicles as having been reported stolen from Staffordshire and Surrey. During the searches, officers also seized various other property and tools, with the caravans and seized items valued at around £100,000 in total.
No arrests have yet been made, and Kent Police says enquiries into the circumstances of the thefts are ongoing. Source:
