Space Safari drone light show coming to Tunbridge Wells this September

Royal Tunbridge Wells is set for something a bit different this autumn, as Space Safari brings a drone light show to Dunorlan Park on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
The event will run from 4pm to 9pm, with the main drone show expected to start between 7.30pm and 7.45pm, although the exact timing may change on the day. Organisers say the show will use hundreds of synchronised drones to create animations in the night sky, combined with music, sound and narration.
The show is being promoted as the first Space Safari drone light show in Tunbridge Wells, giving local families a chance to see a large-scale light display without needing to travel into London or further across the country.
The storytelling will be narrated by BAFTA award-winning TV presenter Michaela Strachan, with the event described as a cinematic journey in the sky. It sounds like the kind of evening where children will be staring upwards in complete silence while adults pretend they are only there "for the kids".
As well as the drone show finale, the event will include live tribute acts, fairground rides, face painting, street food and food stalls. There will also be dog-friendly competitions with prizes, so even local dogs may get their moment of glory, assuming they are more interested in winning than stealing someone’s chips.
There will also be a “bring your own picnic and chair” option for those who prefer a more relaxed evening. For families, that could make the event easier and more affordable, especially if they want to settle in for a few hours before the drone show begins.
Dunorlan Park is already one of Tunbridge Wells’ best-known outdoor spaces, so it feels like a strong setting for this kind of event. A wide open park, an evening atmosphere and hundreds of drones lighting up the sky should make it one of the more memorable local events of the year.
Tickets listed through Fatsoma show prices from free to £22.99 plus fees, with under-threes able to attend free without a ticket. The same listing also mentions a free carer ticket option valid with paid customers.
There is one important thing for visitors to note: drone shows are highly dependent on weather conditions. If the weather prevents the show from going ahead as planned, organisers say it will be rescheduled at the same venue. Possible contingency dates include 27, 28, 29 and 30 September 2026, and ticket holders would be contacted by SMS and email.
That is worth knowing before booking, because tickets are listed as non-refundable if the event is moved due to weather. It is not unusual for drone shows, but it is definitely something families should check before making plans.
For Tunbridge Wells, this looks like a welcome addition to the local events calendar. It offers something visual, family-friendly and a little bit different from the usual weekend options. If the weather behaves, Dunorlan Park could be in for a pretty special evening.
The event takes place at Dunorlan Park, Pembury Road, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Tunbridge Wells, TN2 3QN.
