Police are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old girl died in a collision in Staplehurst.
Kent Police was called to Headcorn Road at around 8.25pm on Thursday 11 June 2026, after a blue Seat Ibiza Xcellence left the road at the junction with Sweetlands Lane and collided with a tree.
Officers attended the scene alongside paramedics and Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
Two passengers were also injured. A 19-year-old man was taken to a London hospital in a life-threatening condition, while a 17-year-old boy was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The incident is a deeply sad reminder of how quickly young lives can be changed or lost on local roads. Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the vehicle beforehand, or has CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking people to call the appeal line on 01622 798538, quoting reference BN/DH/048/26.
