Police Appeal After £4,000 of Bikes Stolen from Tonbridge Garage

Kent Police have released images of three bicycles stolen from a garage near Cannon Lane in Tonbridge, as they continue to appeal for information more than a month after the break-in. The theft happened in the early hours of 1 July 2026, at around 4am, when two men are alleged to have broken into the garage and taken the bikes before riding two of them off towards Barden Road.
The bikes taken were a Giant full suspension bike with a black frame, a Whyte Secta with a green frame, and a Trek Gravel bike with a black frame, together said to be worth around £4,000. That is a significant sum for what was, in effect, a smash-and-grab on a residential garage, and it underlines a pattern seen fairly often in these appeals: thieves increasingly target specific high-value bikes rather than opportunistic finds, suggesting some degree of planning or prior knowledge of what was stored inside.
One of the men was described as wearing a grey hooded top and dark trousers, the other in a black hooded top and grey trousers. Officers attended the scene and reviewed CCTV as part of their initial enquiries, and it is that footage which has allowed them to now release images of the recovered bike descriptions to the public.
For Tonbridge residents, this is a reminder that expensive bikes kept in garages or outbuildings remain an attractive target, particularly where they can be identified from outside or via social media. Cases like this often turn on whether stolen items resurface for sale locally or online, which is why police are specifically asking anyone offered these bikes to come forward.
Anyone with information, or who has been offered these bikes for sale, is asked to contact Kent Police on 01622 604100 quoting reference 46/107214/26, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website. Source: Kent Police
