Creative Maidstone is marking its first anniversary after welcoming more than 10,800 visitors through its doors in just twelve months.
The community arts hub, which opened in July 2025, has quickly become a place where local artists, makers and residents can exhibit their work, learn new skills and take part in a wide range of creative activities. The project was established with support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Maidstone Borough Council.1
During its first year, the venue has hosted a variety of exhibitions and community projects, including a celebration of the work of children's television favourite Tony Hart, alongside affordable art exhibitions designed to make original artwork more accessible to local people.
The hub is home to seven affordable artist studios, an exhibition gallery, workshop space and a shop featuring work created by more than 30 local artists and makers. Over the past year, it has also organised more than 70 workshops, giving children, families and adults the opportunity to try everything from printmaking and painting to seasonal crafts and willow weaving.
Beyond exhibitions, Creative Maidstone has also supported young people through work experience placements and creative projects, while volunteers have helped deliver events and welcome visitors throughout the year.
To celebrate its first birthday, the venue is hosting a free Birthday Bash on Saturday 11 July, with family-friendly activities planned throughout the day.
Anyone interested in future exhibitions, workshops or creative opportunities can find more information on the Creative Maidstone website.
