Maidstone United 1-2 Slough Town
National League South | Gallagher Stadium | Saturday 7th February 2026
Maidstone United: John Gilbert (39')
Slough Town: Basil Tuma (61') Jaiden Drakes-Thomas (71')
The Stones started strongly and took a deserved lead before the break. On 39 minutes, a well-worked attack saw a cross from Leo Hamblin headed goalwards by Deon Moore. Although the Slough keeper parried the effort, John Gilbert was on hand to finish from close range and give Maidstone the advantage.
However, Slough Town came out with renewed intensity after half-time. Their persistence paid off on 61 minutes, when a swift counter-attack ended with Basil Tuma calmly slotting past the Maidstone keeper to level the scoreline.
Just ten minutes later, the Rebels took the lead. Substitute Ruben Shakpoke drove down the flank and delivered a low cross that Jaiden Drakes-Thomas converted, putting Slough in front at 2-1.
Maidstone pressed for an equaliser with several late chances, including a late free-kick on 90 minutes, but were unable to find a second goal. Despite nine minutes of stoppage time, the visitors held on for a well-earned victory.
Impact on League Positions
The defeat leaves Maidstone United just outside the playoff positions, dropping them five points adrift after a promising first-half performance was undone. Meanwhile, the win gives Slough Town a morale-boosting result in what has been a mixed campaign for the club.
