Maidstone United 4-1 Hastings United
Women's FA Cup, Preliminary Round | Gallagher Stadium | Sunday 23rd August 2026
Maidstone United: Millie Waud (4', 6') Tori Campbell (71') Megan Wood (75')
Hastings United: Lily Smith (31' free-kick)
Maidstone United Women made light work of Hastings United to reach the next round of the Women's FA Cup, running out 4-1 winners at the Gallagher Stadium. It's a rapid start to life in cup competition for a squad that only opened its league campaign at the new Step 6 level the previous weekend.
Millie Waud set the tone inside the first six minutes with two quick goals, giving the Stones a cushion before Hastings had really settled. The visitors responded well to the early onslaught, pulling one back through Lily Smith's free-kick just past the half-hour mark, but player-manager Tori Campbell restored the two-goal gap with a header on 71 minutes.
The result was put beyond doubt four minutes later by Megan Wood, whose smart finish capped a whirlwind week for the versatile summer signing from Southampton, Yeovil Town, Dorking Wanderers and London Bees - her arrival at the club was only confirmed on the eve of this tie, having already featured in the league opener against Actonians Reserves. Maidstone now progress to the first qualifying round, where they'll travel to Croydon on Sunday 6 September. Source:
