Johnny Depp Spotted Filming in Maidstone Town Centre

Hollywood star Johnny Depp has been turning heads in Maidstone after being spotted filming scenes in the heart of the town centre.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor has reportedly been working for the past two days along Week Street, with activity centred outside the popular bar and restaurant MuMu. Film crews, equipment, and a noticeable on-site presence have drawn attention from locals and visitors alike.
Crowds gathered throughout the day, with many stopping to watch the production unfold and try to catch a glimpse of the Hollywood A-lister. Photos circulating online show groups of people lining the street, while cameras and crew members worked around the busy town centre location.
According to local sources, the filming is believed to be for a new horror project expected to be released on Netflix later this year, although official details about the production remain limited.
An employee at Greek Taverna Artemis, located opposite MuMu, confirmed the actor’s presence, saying: He is filming for a new horror movie which will be on Netflix in October, but that’s all we’ve been told.
This is not the first time Depp has been seen in Kent. In 2022, he visited Folly Wildlife Rescue, where he supported the charity and was photographed holding an orphaned badger cub. He later became a patron of the organisation. Fans may also remember his surprise appearance on a Eurostar journey in 2018, where he happily posed for photos with passengers.
The actor continues to have a busy schedule, with another major role on the horizon he is set to portray Scrooge in the upcoming film Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, due for release later this year.
For Maidstone, however, the excitement is very much in the present. With a global star filming right on their doorstep, the town centre has briefly become a slice of Hollywood - bringing energy, curiosity, and plenty of cameras to Week Street.
