First Residents Move In at 236-Home Fielding Park Development in Maidstone's Shepway

The first residents have moved into Fielding Park, a new development in Maidstone's Shepway area being built by Golding Homes and developer Skillcrown in partnership with Maidstone Borough Council.

119 homes now, 236 when finished

Phase one of the scheme is complete, delivering 119 homes and four commercial units. The full development, across three phases, will eventually provide 236 energy-efficient homes, a mix of social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership flats and houses. Phase two began construction in summer 2025. Social and affordable rent homes are offered to households on Maidstone Borough Council's housing register.

What's included

Houses come with private rear gardens and on-plot parking, while apartments have a private terrace or balcony. Every home has EV charging points and solar panels, and the finished scheme is also set to include a shopping area and improved green spaces.

Marking the milestone

Golding Homes chief executive Steph Goad said: "Seeing the first residents move into Fielding Park is a proud moment for everyone involved." Skillcrown's land and development director, Matt Arnold, called delivering the 119 homes "a great achievement," while Maidstone's Mayor, Cllr Brian Clark, said the scheme had "set a benchmark for sustainable regeneration in our borough." New resident Carla Ashford said: "It's given me back a normal life and we can finally settle, put down roots and grow." As part of the celebration, a time capsule - including artwork by pupils from local school Five Acre Wood - was buried on site.
