Maidstone United 1-1 Dorking Wanderers
National League South | Gallagher Stadium | Saturday 21st February 2026 | Attendance: 2336
Maidstone United: Muhammadu Faal (60')
Dorking Wanderers: Jason Prior (18')
Maidstone United showed resilience and growing belief as Muhammadu Faal’s second-half strike earned a deserved 1–1 draw against league leaders Dorking Wanderers at the Gallagher Stadium.
After picking up a valuable point at Chelmsford earlier in the week, the Stones once again demonstrated character against top opposition.
Dorking started brightly and made their pressure count in the 19th minute. A deep delivery from Frank Vincent was met by Jason Prior at the back post, and the striker guided a composed header into the top corner to put the visitors ahead.
The Stones grew into the contest as the half progressed. Jephte Tanga was lively throughout and nearly levelled before the break, forcing Harrison Foulkes into an excellent fingertip save. There were signs Maidstone were beginning to believe.
The second half belonged largely to the hosts. George Elokobi’s side played with more urgency and intent, pushing Dorking back and delivering balls into dangerous areas. The introduction of Jamie Yila proved decisive just past the hour mark. His first involvement was a clever pass into the path of Faal, who showed composure to take a touch and fire low beyond Foulkes for his first goal since returning to the club.
The equaliser lifted the Gallagher crowd and Maidstone pushed hard for a winner. Tanga was denied again by an outstanding save, while TJ Bramble saw a header cleared off the line by Prior. At the other end, Nathan Harness stayed alert to repel efforts from Kai Enslin and Brennan Camp as the game became stretched.
Dorking were reduced to ten men deep into stoppage time when substitute George Knight was shown a red card for a high boot on Sam Corne, but Maidstone could not find the late breakthrough their performance arguably deserved.
In the end, it was a point earned through grit, quality, and growing confidence - and further proof the Stones can compete with the division’s best.
