Eastbourne Borough 1-1 Tonbridge Angels
National League South | Priory Lane | 6th April 2026 | Attendance: 1029
Eastbourne Borough: Q. De Castro (59')
Tonbridge Angels: R. Korboa (8')
Looking to respond after their Good Friday setback, Angels started with purpose, but it was the hosts who asked the first real question. Matt Rowley was quickly called into action, producing a smart stop to keep things level early on.
That warning seemed to wake Tonbridge up. They grew into the game and began to control possession, moving the ball with confidence. Their early pressure paid off inside ten minutes when Ricky Korboa found space on the edge of the box and drove a powerful effort past Alex Hobden to give Angels the lead.
From there, the visitors looked the more dangerous side. Matty Warren tested Hobden again with a strong strike, while the Eastbourne defence had to stay alert as Tonbridge kept probing.
Still, the home side carried a threat of their own, mainly through Harvey Skieters, who remained a lively presence going forward. He forced another save from Rowley midway through the half, while set-pieces also caused a few nervous moments for the Angels back line.
Tonbridge had a shout for a penalty waved away and went close again before the break, but the key moment late in the half came at the other end. Rowley pulled off an excellent save to deny Lee Angol when he looked certain to score, ensuring Angels went into half-time ahead.
The second half took time to get going, with both sides struggling to create clear openings. But just before the hour mark, Eastbourne found their breakthrough. A neat passing move ended with Quevin Castro striking from distance to bring the hosts level.
With the scores tied, the game became more open but also more scrappy. Both teams pushed forward, though neither side managed to create many clear-cut chances.
Angels came closest to finding a winner when Korboa produced a clever piece of play in the box, lifting a cross to the far post where substitute Naz Bakrin couldn’t guide his header on target.
Eastbourne nearly snatched it late on themselves, with Adam May seeing a long-range effort drift narrowly wide.
In the end, a draw was probably a fair reflection. Tonbridge will feel they had the better of the first half, but couldn’t make it count, while Eastbourne showed enough resilience to earn a valuable point in their fight at the bottom.
