Police Appeal After Car Fails to Stop Near Dunton Green, Later Hits Another Vehicle

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a car failed to stop for officers near Dunton Green on Friday morning, in an incident that ended with an alleged collision and a man on foot near Chipstead Lakes.

What happened

At around 8.35am on Friday 2 October, proactive patrols spotted a suspicious silver Ford Focus on London Road in Dunton Green. Officers signalled for the car to stop, but it failed to do so. The vehicle was reportedly later involved in a collision with a white Volkswagen Tiguan in Lusted Road, before coming to a stop in Hillfield Road - a route that covers a little over a mile of the village. The occupant is alleged to have left the car on foot towards Chipstead Lakes.

Who police want to hear from

The suspected driver is described as white, in his 20s, with dark facial hair, and was believed to be wearing a dark tracksuit top and bottoms with black trainers. Officers are particularly keen to hear from residents with private CCTV or drivers with dashcam footage who were in the area at the time, and anyone with information is asked to call the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 02-0283.
