Croydon Athletic End Sevenoaks Town's Unbeaten League Start

AFC Croydon Athletic 2-1 Sevenoaks Town

Isthmian League South East Division | The Mayfield Stadium | Tuesday 18th August 2026 | Attendance: 179
AFC Croydon Athletic: David Bremang (2') Greg Cundle (51')
Sevenoaks Town: Tamas Amgbaduba (88')
Sevenoaks Town's unbeaten start to the season came to an end on Tuesday night, beaten 2-1 away at AFC Croydon Athletic in a game that got away from them early rather than late. David Bremang's second-minute opener set the tone, and although Sevenoaks pushed hard for a way back once Greg Cundle doubled Croydon's lead just after half-time, it took until the 88th minute - and a goal from substitute Tamas Amgbaduba, on the pitch for just nine minutes - to get anything on the board.
Bremang wasted no time putting the hosts ahead, finishing inside the opening two minutes at The Mayfield Stadium to leave Sevenoaks chasing the game from the first whistle. Cundle extended the lead six minutes into the second half, and with Croydon making three changes on 66 minutes to protect their advantage, it was left to the visitors' bench to find a way back in. Jack Tickle had already replaced Tobii Adaje at 70 minutes, but it was Amgbaduba, on for Noah Carney with 11 minutes left, who eventually got Sevenoaks on the scoresheet with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Croydon's afternoon wasn't entirely comfortable either - Cian Mccarthy and Luke Dreher were both shown yellow cards in the space of four minutes either side of the 75-minute mark as Sevenoaks pushed for an equaliser that never came.
It's Sevenoaks' first defeat of the new league campaign, following the opening-day draw with Faversham Town, and leaves them 16th in the early South East Division table with a single point from two games. There's little time to dwell on it: Sevenoaks are back in action away at Erith Town on Tuesday.
