Two men have been jailed following a series of vehicle thefts and attempted thefts across Kent, after police brought an organised crime spree to an end.
According to
Kent Police, the offences took place over several weeks and involved targeting high-value vehicles parked on residential driveways across multiple areas of the county.
Targeting Cars at Night
The group operated mainly during the night, approaching vehicles while homeowners were asleep. Offenders were seen wearing dark clothing and face coverings, with several incidents captured on home CCTV systems.
The crimes affected communities across Kent, including parts of Maidstone, Medway, Swale and Ashford, leaving residents shaken and concerned about overnight vehicle security.
Arrests After Police Intervention
Police patrols were deployed after reports of attempted vehicle thefts in east Kent. Officers later intercepted a suspect vehicle at a petrol station near Lenham, where arrests were made.
During the stop, officers recovered clothing linked to CCTV footage as well as tools believed to have been used in the thefts. The investigation confirmed the group had been working together to steal or attempt to steal multiple vehicles.
Court Sentences Handed Down
Following court proceedings, two men were sentenced to more than two years in prison for conspiracy to steal vehicles. A third individual received a suspended prison sentence.
Police said the sentences reflected the organised nature of the offences and the distress caused to victims whose cars were targeted outside their homes.
Community Role Highlighted
Detectives praised residents who provided CCTV footage and timely reports, noting that community cooperation played a key role in identifying suspects and securing convictions.
Kent Police also reiterated advice for residents to take precautions such as securing vehicles, using additional security devices where possible, and reporting suspicious activity promptly.
