Badsell Road in Paddock Wood Shut Until 30 October for Junction Works

A section of Badsell Road in Paddock Wood is closed for a two-week stretch until Friday 30 October, as part of the wider Badsell Road Junction Improvement Scheme. The closure affects a short stretch at the road's eastern end, between Maidstone Road and Morgan Way, near Mascalls Park.
The closure is needed to let BT carry out diversion works across the carriageway in the area - work the scheme's engineers say can't be done safely while traffic is still passing through. Kent County Council and contractor Breheny Civil Engineering timed the closure deliberately for the October half-term, when traffic levels are expected to be lower, and are using the opportunity to carry out other works at the same time to cut down on the need for further closures later.
Access for residents isn't being cut off entirely. Properties west of Mascalls Park, including The Greenways and Morgan Way, can still be reached via the A228, and pedestrian and cycle routes through the area remain open throughout. Mascalls Park's own access is split into two phases: entry and exit via Maidstone Road (B2160) until Sunday 25 October, then via the A228 for the remaining week. Sunnycot Cottage keeps its access via Maidstone Road for the full closure. The weight restriction on the Maidstone Road railway bridge is also being temporarily suspended, to let HGVs reach Paddock Wood while the main route is shut.
