Tonbridge Angels 0-2 Truro City
National League South | Yeomans Community Stadium, Longmead | Saturday 22nd August 2026
Truro City: Tyler Harvey (53' pen, 73')
Tonbridge Angels' unbeaten home record this season came to an end against a well-organised Truro City side, beaten 2-0 at Longmead in a game manager Alan Dunne felt turned on a decision that shouldn't have stood. Both of Truro's goals came from Tyler Harvey, the second putting the result out of reach with 17 minutes left.
Dunne was forced into two changes he wouldn't have chosen, with Jephte Tanga suspended and Bunmi Babajide injured - Harry Gardner came back into the side and Paul Osew made his full debut in their absence, before Osew was replaced by Alfie Pavey once Truro went ahead in search of more physical presence up front.
The game turned on referee Jack Willmore's decision to award a penalty in the 53rd minute for an alleged shirt tug by Jordon Thompson on Harvey, which Harvey converted to break the deadlock. Dunne didn't hold back afterwards, calling the decision "shocking" and adding that "the Truro bench was laughing" at how soft it was. Angels felt they had a case of their own waved away with 10 minutes left, when Shaun Donnellan appeared to handle in the Truro box, but Willmore played on.
Dunne was fair in defeat about the opposition's quality - "they are a top side, very physical and well-organised" - but couldn't hide his frustration at how the game had been decided: "the turning point was the penalty... I'm really frustrated." It's a result that snaps a run of back-to-back away wins and leaves Angels still searching for a first home win of the new season. Source:
